Hi!! Welcome to my very first blog post (cue the nerves and excitement)!! I feel like I should preface this by saying… I’m not a writer. Writing was definitely not my strongest subject in school. So why am I starting a blog? Great question.

The truth is, I’ve always had a deep love for sharing. And after discovering my passion for holistic health, it felt only natural to combine that love with this space—where I can connect, reflect, and hopefully inspire along the way.

So, for my first post, I want to share how I found myself on this path to becoming a holistic health coach.

After college, I began working as an athletic trainer and medical assistant. About eight months into the job, the world changed—COVID hit. I've always been a bit of a hypochondriac (lol), so like any good hypochondriac, I dove headfirst into the internet, searching for ways to avoid getting sick. (Spoiler: I didn’t outrun COVID forever!!)

In that process, I stumbled into a whole new world: one where health wasn’t just about avoiding illness, but about truly caring for your whole self—body, mind, and spirit. I realized that it’s not just about eating well or exercising all day every day. It’s about how you move, what you think, how you feel, who you surround yourself with, and how connected you are to your own inner world.

That realization led me to some of my favorite holistic health voices—many of whom are influencers, yes, but also incredibly educated, credible, and inspiring. People like Dr. Mark Hyman, Ben Greenfield, and Kate Eskuri (who has since stepped away from social media but left a lasting impact). I soaked up their tips, read their books, tried their habits, and slowly started shifting my own lifestyle.

Then, in 2022, I went through one of the hardest seasons of my life—a deeply emotional breakup. That heartbreak pushed me to start therapy, and I will forever be grateful for the therapist I found (by complete chance) one desperate night. She changed the way I view myself, my relationships, and life in general. Honestly, she changed my life.

Through over a year and a half of inner work, I began to realize how deeply connected our emotional health is to everything else. That’s when I felt the call to deepen my understanding and get certified in holistic health coaching. I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s yearlong program and graduated in May 2023.

And, that same month, I also made the Minnesota Vikings Cheer team for the first time! I was honored to be a part of the team for two seasons. This year, I made the decision to retire so I could refocus on my full-time job—and most importantly—come back to this passion for holistic health.

Which brings us to today! I’m writing my first blog post, taking on coaching clients, and leaning back into this path that has given me so much.

If you’re curious about working with a coach, have questions, or just want to connect—please don’t hesitate to reach out. My availability is limited since I’m working full-time, but I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for being here. I can’t wait to share, grow, and learn together.

With love,
Emily
